BILL NUMBER:S4744 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to hunting safety instructors PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill provides the issuance of a free hunting license to all active New York State hunter safety instructors. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: A resident of New York State who has been an instructor of a hunter safety course approved by the commissioner, shall be entitled to receive a free hunting license, for the next license year beginning after the date the course was completed. JUSTIFICATION: Currently, New York State Hunter Safety Instructors do not receive any compensation for their dedication to educating New York State residents in hunter safety. This bill would provide for compensation for their dedication to promote "safety in the fields." FUNKE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to hunt- ing safety instructors THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 11-0715 of the environmental conservation law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A. A RESIDENT OF THE STATE WHO HAS BEEN AN INSTRUCTOR OF A HUNTING SAFETY COURSE APPROVED BY THE COMMISSIONER AND WHO HAS COMPLETED HIS OR HER INSTRUCTION RELATIVE TO SUCH COURSE SHALL BE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE A HUNTING LICENSE FREE OF CHARGE FOR THE NEXT LICENSE YEAR BEGINNING AFTER THE DATE WHEN SUCH COURSE OF INSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED.
