Senator Venditto Joins With Local Government to Fight For Transfer of the Armory to Freeport

Senator Michael Venditto (R, C, I- Massapequa) joined with Freeport Village Mayor Robert Kennedy, Assemblyman Brian Curran, Nassau County Legislators Laura Curran and Steve Rhoads, and members of the Freeport community in support of his legislation (S.3823) to transfer the New York State Armory to the Village of Freeport. The Village of Freeport will be able to utilize the Armory to re-locate the DPW, additionally, by re-locating the DPW would save Village taxpayers millions in unnecessary flood insurance. The equipment that would be stored at the Armory is needed to clear streets, sewers and property of fallen trees. The current DPW equipment's location is in a flood zone making it extremely vulnerable to damage and it is vital the nautical Village guard itself against flooding for the safety of its residents. Last year Senator Venditto's legislation, passed the State Senate by a unanimous 61-0 vote. The time is now for the State Assembly and Governor Cuomo to do the same and help the Village of Freeport.
